The Senior Executive, their Rating Official, and Agency Administrators (if necessary) may edit the performance plan.
Agency policies indicate available performance plan options. Based on agency policy, you may take the following actions. Refer to agency policy for further guidance.
Enter the Appraisal Dates
- To establish the Appraisal Pd., enter the starting and ending date.
- Click the first Appraisal Pd. date to select the date from the calendar.
- In the same manner, click the second Appraisal Pd. date to select the date from the calendar.
Click Save.
Add Agency-Specific Performance Requirements to
Critical Element 1 – 4
Agency-Specific Performance Requirements are the standards set by an agency or organization to drive performance in alignment with its mission and strategic objectives. They ensure SES members are evaluated not just on general standards, but on their impact within the agency’s unique context. Agency’s policy will dictate if this field is editable by the Executive.
Navigate to Part 5. Performance Standards and Critical Elements or click Critical Elements.
Review the default performance standard. Enter the text in the appropriate critical element’s Agency-Specific Performance Requirements text box. Click Save.
Add Performance Requirements and Strategic Alignments to
Critical Element 5
Critical Element 5: Achieving Organizational Goals requires a minimum of three mandatory Performance Requirements. Each Critical Element 5 Performance Requirement must have at least one Strategic Alignment.

From the Performance Requirement [Number] text box, enter the performance requirement text.
Next, select a strategic goal from the Select a Strategic Goal drop-down.
Enter the page number in the optional Add the Page Number field.
If appropriate, add the weight in the Weight (Optional) field.
If additional strategic goals and page number need added to the performance requirement, click +Add Another Goal. Click Save.
To add the additional performance requirements, click Add Performance Requirement and repeat the steps above.
To remove a performance requirement, click Delete.
Enter Critical Element Weights
Weights for Critical Elements 1 will default to a minimum of 25 percent. Weights for Critical Elements 2-5 will default to a minimum of 15 percent. Refer to agency policy for further guidance.
Click in the Weight field. Type the appropriate number. All weights must total 100%. Click Save.
