The Approving Official is the designated authority—often the Appointing Official or a senior leader—responsible for reviewing and formally approving the final performance rating for a Senior Professional. Ensures the rating is accurate, aligns with agency policy, and reflects the Performance Review Board’s (PRB) recommendations. Provides the final signature in USA Performance before the rating is complete.
From the Dashboard page, click Sign [Year] SP Plans as Approving Officials.
- The Sign [Year] SP Plans as Approving Official page will open.
Select the appropriate professional’s name to navigate to the plan.
The Review and Sign page will open. Navigate to the Rating menu and click Approving Official Narrative & Rating.
The Approving Official Narrative & Rating page will open. Enter the optional Approving Official Narrative.
Next, review the Derivation Formula and Calculation of the Rating of Record.
- If the approving official agrees with the Initial Rating of Record, then click Next to proceed to the Review and Sign page.
- If the approving official disagrees with the Initial Rating of Record, then select the Final Element Rating level from the drop-down menu. Click Save. The Score will update, and the level will update according to the Rating of Record ranges. To proceed to the next page, click Next.
- The Review and Sign page will open. Scroll to Part 3. Rating of Record.
Click Sign Rating of Record.
You will be asked to confirm your action. Click Yes, Sign Rating of Record.
- The signature will appear and update in the Plan History. The plan is now complete.
