If your performance plan goes through calibration, you may notice a delay in the signing process. This guide explains what calibration means for you, what you can and cannot see, and what to expect before your signing task appears.
What Calibration Means for You
Calibration is a panel review process that happens before the Rating Official signs your performance plan. Your involvement begins only after the panel has finished and the normal signing process resumes.
|
You do not submit your own plan The Rating Official submits it on your behalf. You do not need to take any action while the panel is reviewing. |
What You Can and Cannot Do
| Situation | Details |
| Submit your plan to the panel | No — the Rating Official does this. |
| View your plan during panel review | The plan remains in the Rating phase. You can view it but signing is not yet available. |
| See Calibration Notes on your plan | No — employees never see their own Calibration Notes, even if you are a panel member for other plans. |
| Exempt yourself from calibration | No — only administrators manage panel assignments and exemptions. |
| Sign the plan | Yes — after the panel releases the plan and required official signatures are complete. |
What to Expect: Step by Step
- Your Rating Official completes and saves your ratings and narratives, then submits your plan to the panel. You do not need to do anything at this stage.
- The panel reviews your plan. During this time, you will not see a signing task for this plan on your Dashboard.
- The panel releases your plan. The Rating Official is notified to sign.
- The Rating Official signs. If a Reviewing Official signature is required, that follows.
- Your signing task appears. Sign your plan as you normally would.
|
The rating on your plan may differ If the Calibration Panel saved a different rating before releasing, that becomes the official rating. The Rating Official will have reviewed this before signing. If you have questions about the rating on your plan, speak with your Rating Official. |
If You Also Belong to a Calibration Panel
If you are a panel Member or Chair for other employees' plans, those roles do not affect your own plan's calibration:
- You still cannot see Calibration Notes on your own plan.
- Your panel role does not remove restrictions on seeing your own plan's narrative.
- You cannot act in a Chair capacity on your own plan — a different eligible Chair must handle it.
